Beijing's Hotel Eclat Launches Miami Lagoon Suite

The door of the Miami Suite opens to reveal a dramatic vista complete with white grand piano enticing one to sit and make music tinkling the ivories whilst soaking up the ambience. While an entire wall is given over to one of Feng Zhengjie’s haunting women murals creating a dramatic splash of pink and green, Gao Xiaowu’s “Our Generation” kissing figures beside the long white leather couch and acrylic egg chairs add a quirky sense of romance. Meanwhile through the window, the watchful eyes of three Gao Xiaowu “Post Standard Generation” white statues stand side by side presiding silently over the blue water of the 10m lagoon. It is through these strong pastel shades that the decor and artwork by some of China’s leading contemporary artists recreate the refreshing feeling of Miami’s sun-drenched art deco architecture. This is just the start of a journey in a Suite which offers twists and surprises at every turn. Moving beyond the walk-in dressing room and jacuzzi, impressing in the bedroom takes on a new meaning when artworks include a retrospective and emotional masculine Francis Bacon piece, whilst contrasted with the young, powerfully feminine and sexy lines of a work by Shen Na.

This is definitely a suite for entertaining whether with one friend or a quiet relaxing evening with a few friends, and at 328sqm, it is one of the hotel’s largest suites. The Suite includes a full kitchen plus an outside terrace complete with bar area for serving drinks. Indoor or ‘outdoor’ dining are options with al-fresco Terrace seating for up to 16 people on Ron Arad designed Moroso white sculpted ‘ripple chairs’ at aged wooden Georgian-style tables. The Terrace features two lounge sofa areas of white leather and sumptuous crushed faded gray and blue velvet. There is also a choice of pool-side loungers in different styles such as Tord Boontje’s recreation of the popular Northern European 1920’s style lounger which adds a strong accent whilst rather fittingly a Gao Xiaowu baby series sculpture “Falling Asleep” nestles beside adding to the lazy, relaxed mood. Beyond the coloured hues of Miami, Timothy Oulton’s Venetian-inspired 1930s-style glass and brass chandeliers lamps provide soft, ambient lighting.
