Casa Cuixmala, An Ultra Luxury Boutique Hotel Opens on Mexico's Pacific Coast

During Sir James' day the villa entertained Presidents and Prime Ministers such as Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. After Sir James' death, his daughter Alix Marcaccini, who also has a home on the Cuixmala estate, made Casa Cuixmala available as a luxury villa rental which has hosted a long list of VIPs including Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, Madonna and Tom Cruise.

The villa was designed by Robert Couturier in a style that mixes influences from North Africa with India and Mexico. The result is unabashedly exotic with a huge dome, soaring ceilings, fountain courtyards and palapas with panoramic view.

Today: In 2014 the decision was made to transform the villa into an ultra luxury boutique hotel. There are four palatial suites in the main building and seven very private bungalow suites. An additional five bungalows will be added in December. The Cuixmala Suite, which is one of the great suites of the world, features a massive bedroom with a seating area and fireplace all overlooking stunning ocean views. A hyper deluxe bathroom has an ocean view shower and tub and the outdoor living area features a splash pool. The other three suites in the main house boast intricate architectural details, private terraces and luxurious baths. Each of the private bungalows has an oversized bedroom with living area and super deluxe bathroom along with an outdoor living terrace with views.

A world class restaurant under the direction of award winning Chef Gonzalo Mendoza serves organic cuisine entirely sourced from Cuixmala's own farms and ranch which produces not only fruits and vegetables but also meats, cheeses, dairy, herbs, spices and even coffee.

Casa Cuixmala sits on over two miles of private beach and has a dramatic tile swimming pool at the bottom of a grand staircase that descends from the house to the beach. An adjoining palapa on the beach provides a shaded place for dining and lounging. This sumptuous beach plaza can also used to stage special events such as weddings and celebrations.
