Colorado's Dunton Hot Springs Announces Summer Adventures
Led by legendary outdoor enthusiast BoJo Post, guests will venture down established trails or bushwhack their way to hidden hot springs and vistas. Opened in 2001, Dunton Hot Springs resort is a restored ghost town set in an extraordinary alpine valley. The town's original 19th-century "Wild West" log cabins have been transformed into 12 romantic and luxurious accommodations. Its spa is fed by natural mineral hot springs that have been curing body and soul for centuries, ideal for de-stressing from the myriad activities available to guests. And the town's old saloon is now a world-class restaurant serving organic fare paired with award-winning wines produced by the resort's own Sutcliffe Vineyards.

Soaking
The hot springs, of course, can be enjoyed year-round and are a great way to relax and soak muscles sore from the day's pursuits. The springs at Dunton are sulphur-free, which means there is no bad egg odor. Guests have three soaking options on property including the source where the water is hottest. The renovated original bathhouse has outdoor and indoor pools. Inside the bathhouse there are power and steam showers, piles of soft towels and a cold water plunging tub.

Fly Fishing
The Dolores River meanders through Dunton, with nine miles of private fly fishing waters teeming with rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout.

Cresto Ranch, located 4 miles downstream from Dunton, is home to one of the best trout streams in Colorado. The river offers an array of water types and fly fishing situations.

Technical Peak Ascents
Expert guides offer alpine adventure that incorporate elements of rock climbing and technical mountaineering skills. Some experience is required for these peaks, but the views found at the end are second to none.

Private Rock Climbing
Designed for all ages and abilities, from 4-year-olds to seasoned mountaineers, Dunton's private rock-climbing excursions allow visitors to explore the vertical realm with the assistance of a qualified and supportive guide, using harnesses, ropes and technical climbing equipment.

Mountain Biking
The San Juan Mountains that surround Dunton Hot Springs are a mountain biker's paradise offering everything from steep climbs to easier gravel trails. Guests have the option of heading out with a guide or exploring on their own using one of the property's many bikes.

Horseback Riding
Dunton has access to bold, sure-footed horses, gentle and willing on high mountain trails. Excursions can last from one hour to a half-day trip that includes a picnic lunch.

Private Guided Hiking
Hiking at Dunton is tailored to the guest's ability. A full-day hike allows adventurers to travel deep into the wilderness of the San Juan Mountains and explore hidden trails, mountain passes and deep valleys, while easier hikes meander through fields of wildflowers amidst high summits and clear streams.

Rafting
The San Miguel River offers excellent rafting; both half-day and full-day trips are available. Half-day trips cover approximately 9 miles of class II-III whitewater in about 2 hours, and full-day trips run through approximately 20 miles of the San Miguel's Norwood Canyon. Rafting is available every morning and afternoon.
