Kiawah Island Club to Reopen Tom Fazio-designed Private River Course
The extensive updates are meant to make the course more enjoyable to the everyday golfer. The River Course provides a challenging and aesthetically pleasing 7,039-yard test. It boasts six holes that play along the river's edge, with the other fairways and greens playing along picturesque marsh savannas, ponds, and the Island's incomparable maritime forests.

The main areas of upgrades were replacing the turf, adding formal Billy Bunkers, and building ‘Comfort Stations.' Player comfort stations will offer a pleasant break for golfers, featuring a grill attendant serving plates of sliders, complementary cocktails, beer, wine, and fountain drinks. The fairway, tee turf, and turf on the collars will be upgraded and all green perimeters will be reestablished. All bunkers will be updated with patented ‘Billy Bunkers' technology. The technology replaces liners with a manufactured rock binder that holds the gravel blanket in space and aids in consistency. To make the course more enjoyable and faster to play, 10 sets of forward tees have been added for women and seniors. They will reduce the yardage by 460 yards for those players.
