Laucala Island - The World’s Most Remote Championship Golf Course

This 18-hole course was designed by David McLay Kidd, who created the 7th course at the home of golf, St. Andrews. And with less than 150 tee-offs per year, Laucala Island's course guarantees privacy and exclusivity.

Meandering through coconut plantations and along the coastline against a dramatic backdrop of volcanic mountains, tropical jungle and sheer cliffs, the result is one of the most vivid, epic and exclusive courses in the world. Approaching the island by air affords a first glimpse of several beautifully manicured holes running along the seashore.

The remainder of the par-72 layout is virtually invisible, since the main goal was to preserve the original character of the island, and create the most environmentally sensitive and sustainable golf course possible. This meant thoughtfully integrating the undulating fairways, challenging greens and strategic bunkers into the environment, with minimal impact on the island's old coconut plantation area and jungle.

Situated on the water's edge sits arguably the most picturesque Halfway House in the world, offering a suitable rest after a challenging front nine. Golfers can enjoy private luncheons of island-fresh produce from salads to sushi, all while overlooking the breath-taking panoramic views of Satokoro Bay.

With a seaside green extending onto the beach, Laucala's signature par-5 12th hole is unique in never playing the same hole twice – with an ever-changing tide meaning "wet feet" should your approach shot veer to the right of the green!

From three different tees and elevations adjusting the course length from 6,245m down to 5,627m and 4,614m, the 18 holes create distinct challenges for the most advanced golfers while offering forgiveness and fun for beginners.

The design is a sustainable triumph. Unique blends of grasses were used to provide the ultimate playing surfaces – tees and greens planted with the hybrid Bermuda grass, Novatek, providing smooth putting surfaces year-round, and fairways seeded with Zoysia Japonica, ideally suited to the warm tropical climate of Fiji. A golf course like no other in terms of wildlife, the rare orange dove as well as an abundance of brightly coloured and eye-catching Kingfisher birds can be seen from each hole.

For sheer exclusivity, golfers also enjoy ultimate privacy with adequately staggered tee times ensuring they feel they have the entire course to themselves. Upon special request, guests can also look to book out the course and Club House for special occasions, business trips or group activities.

Furthermore, for the ultimate course experience guests can buyout the island entirely and have full uninterrupted access to the golf course and all activities for the duration of their stay*.

On top of every other privilege, there are no cart or green fees. Golfing is all part of the island's daily rates. PGA professionals are on site for lessons or can join guests for a round of golf. The Clubhouse compliments the idyllic experience with a cocktail bar, changing facilities, fully stocked pro shop with golf clubs for those who travel without (including kids & left-handed clubs), and practice facility.
