Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Opens New 3,000 Foot Dueling Zip Line
Open daily, the new Fatbird SuperFlyer is located at the resort's Adventure Center and replaces the resort's Fatbird Flyer which was a 1,060 foot single zip line.

“Zip lines are a popular adventure trend across the country and our Fatbird Flyer zip line was no exception. However, our guests frequently requested that we consider something bigger and better,” said Matt Grobe, Activities Director at Nemacolin.

The Fatbird SuperFlyer begins at the same platform location that the Fatbird Flyer once used. Guests soar 1,600 feet alongside a competing rider all while reaching speeds of up to 60 mph, and flying 60 feet directly above the resort's Mystic Mountain slopes and snowmaking pond. The new zip line features a state-of-the-art self-braking system which slows down riders as they approach the suspended mid-station. With the assistance of trained guides, riders detach and reattach before taking flight on the second zip line section, which is 1,500 feet long and brings riders to the bottom of Mystic Mountain. “I, personally, always wanted a zip line that would start at the top and end at the bottom of our mountain, but the technology was not available when we built the Fatbird Flyer,” said Grobe. “However, with great strides in the zip line industry, it is available now and our new Fatbird SuperFlyer is a prime example.”

Nemacolin worked with Universal Ropes Course Builders Inc., from Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on the construction of the zip line. The Fatbird SuperFlyer costs $45 per person or $100 per person for a two-hour pass. Maximum weight restrictions change daily as safety precautions are based upon weather and usage.
