Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Mystic Rock Soars to No. 40 in Golfweek’s ‘Best Resort Courses’
Mystic Rock soared 19 spots from its No. 59 position in last year's rankings. The former site of the PGA TOUR's 84 Lumber Classic, the layout is also the highest ranked resort course in Pennsylvania. Additionally ranked No. 60 in Golf Digest's “America's 100 Greatest Public Courses,” Mystic Rock spans acres of scenic highlands, offering players championship golf in a spectacular setting.

The resort recently announced that its second Dye-designed creation, Shepherd's Rock, will open in July 2017. The layout is also expected to rival the highest-rated courses in the country and be a perfect companion to Mystic Rock giving Nemacolin 36 holes of extraordinary golf.

“We're thrilled by Mystic Rock's significant rise in Golfweek's coveted ranking of the best resort courses,” says Monte Hansen, Managing Director. “With this prestigious honor and the upcoming opening of Shepherd's Rock next year, Nemacolin is poised to join the handful of premier ‘top of the top' golf destinations in the U.S.”

The resort also features the Nemacolin Golf Academy offering an array of game improvement programming including: individual lessons, TrackMan® ball flight and V-1 Video swing analysis, one- and three-day golf schools, and one of the leading club-fitting centers on the East Coast. A commitment to growing the game also abounds, with numerous junior and family golf options.

Earlier this year, Nemacolin added two of the top names in the golf industry to its staff. Mike Jones, director of golf and recreation, comes to Nemacolin from Hawaii's Kapalua Resort, one of the top golf resorts in the world. Director of instruction Eric Johnson, one GOLF Magazine's “Top 100 teachers in America,” arrived at Nemacolin just days after his former course, Oakmont Country Club, hosted the U.S. Open.
