Spice Island Beach Resort Receives Coveted Six Star Diamond Award
At a gala event last evening, May 27, 2014, with over 200 attendees including the resorts' guests, Chairman and Managing Director, Sir Royston Hopkin KCMG, was on hand to receive the award. In attendance were the island's Governor General, Prime Minister, government ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the business community, Karen Lynn Dixon, international general manager of AAHS, and the resort's staff members.

Before presenting the award, Joseph Cinque, president and CEO of AAHS, told the gathering how much he has fallen in love with Grenada and Spice Island Beach Resort and noted that not only would he like to return but he knows many persons who would just love Grenada as well as the service and luxury of the resort. He then presented the Six Star Diamond award to Sir Royston which was greeted by a resounding applause from all guests and the celebrations almost immediately began.

"We're so honored to be recognized by the AAHS and to be presented with the prestigious Six Star Diamond Award. The Academy is a trusted voice in the tourism industry and we're proud to lay claim to this award," said an elated Sir Royston.
The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences is an establishment specializing in the reviewing of hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, cruise lines, automobiles, products, restaurants and chefs, and is most notably known for its International Star Diamond Award. The award is the most prestigious honor of true excellence in hospitality, gastronomy, attitude, quality, cleanliness and above all service.

AAHS receives a large number of possible recipients for the award from respectable sources around the world. The selection is then refined by the Board of Trustees and the final evaluation is a visit by an anonymous inspector to review the destination and its services.

"While continually upgrading the property and offering luxurious modern amenities are important aspects in maintaining excellence, it is undoubtedly our dedicated and loyal staff who make Spice Island Beach Resort the success that it is," Sir Royston continued.

"We take pride in providing guests with the utmost in customer service, with our staff anticipating each and every whim while affording the privacy needed to fully relax," he added.

In 2013, Sir Royston implemented a multi-million dollar series of upgrades and enhancements to the already unparalleled property to ensure the boutique resort remains at the forefront of the luxury tourism market.
