Rooms & Suites: 183
Originally built below Camelback Mountain in 1959, Mountain Shadows reemerged as an icon of luxury and design after it was completely rebuilt in 2017.
Located near Scottsdale in Paradise Valley, echoes of the resort’s historic legacy and the stunning desert surroundings create an energy of renewal that draws you into this unique destination. The resort features timeless modern design, 183 guestrooms, a restaurant with an exhibition kitchen, two pools, a high-tech fitness facility, a fully revamped short golf course, a golf grill and lounge as well as 37,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. A luxury wing with 42 resort condominiums and suites opens in late 2017. Mountain Shadows first opened in 1959, with the golf course following in 1961. It was an immediate icon of desert luxury, prior to the incorporation of the town of Paradise Valley in 1961. After many successful years and famous visitors, the property was demolished in 2014. Westroc Hospitality, whose current Phoenix-area properties include Sanctuary Resort and Hotel Valley Ho, partnered with Woodbine Development to rebuild the resort from the ground up, while the original golf course has been fully revamped by renowned golf course architect Forrest Richardson, protege of the original course designer Arthur Jack Snyder.
