Guided tours are available throughout the year. Fort Necessity - The battle at Fort Necessity in the summer of 1754 was the opening action of the French and Indian War. This war was a clash of British, French and American Indian cultures. It ended with the removal of French power from North America. The stage was set for the American Revolution. Located just 10 minutes from Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, the park is open daily with guided tours available. Ohiopyle State Park - Nemacolin is your gateway to some of the best river rafting, kayaking, hiking and biking in the Eastern United States. Situated just a scenic 10 minutes from the gates of Nemacolin is Ohiopyle State Park. The Park encompasses 19,052 acres of rugged, natural beauty. The focal point of the park is 14 miles of the Youghiogheny River that pass through the heart of the park. The Falls Day Use area provides free parking, swimming, wading, modern restrooms, a gift shop and an overlook platform with magnificent scenery. If you prefer your excursions to be a bit drier, Ohiopyle State Park offers miles of hiking and biking trails including the Great Allegheny Passage, a flat trail that connects Pittsburgh with Washington, D.C.
